And the children of Israel cried out to the Lord, saying, “We have sinned against You, because we have both forsaken our God and served the Baals!” (Judges 10:10)
Our position as intercessors tomorrow mirrors that of the children of Israel in the days of Abimelech. Our prayer should be similar:
We have turned from the ways of God, the laws of God, the statutes of God, and we have denied his lordship over us or anything else. In the void that was left, we fell from the path of righteousness. We squandered our relationship with God and our blessings from Him to pursue, self-gain, self-rule, self-glory and we reaped the whirlwind. We fell further, consulting any and every ancient god but the Living God. We practiced divination, sorcery, witchcraft, and the worship of created things in pursuit of personal success and power. We accepted pleasure and preference as our goals and justification for life. We fell further, into pornography, adultery, homosexuality, and body mutilation. We fell further, murdering our children in the name of freedom, success, prosperity, choice. In so doing we worshiped Baal and Molech. We fell further, into pedophilia; targeting, trafficking, molesting, and brainwashing children. We fell further and openly worshiped Satan. We have sinned against the Most High God from one end of our nation to the other.
Oh God, WE REPENT!
Have mercy on us!
